
Residents of Frankfort and the surrounding communities have a new resource for addressing chronic and emergency cardiac conditions. Frankfort Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Gbolahan Ogunbayo, MD, has joined Bluegrass Cardiology Consultants at 279 King’s Daughters Drive, Suite 204 in Frankfort.
“We are excited to collaborate with UK HealthCare’s team and add another skilled interventional cardiologist to the medical staff at Frankfort Regional,” said Reed Hammond, CEO. “The addition of Dr. Ogunbayo allows us to continue the expansion of cardiovascular services available to the residents in the Frankfort and surrounding areas.”
Physicians from UK HealthCare’s Gill Heart & Vascular Institute provide 24/7 coverage for cardiac emergencies at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. They also provide services for outpatient and inpatient general cardiology, cardiac catheterization and angioplasty, outpatient electrophysiology consultations, and patient education, and training.
Dr. Ogunbayo earned his medical degree at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, and completed his residency at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York, where he served as chief resident of internal medicine and founded the EKG Club. Dr. Ogunbayo also completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at UK HealthCare’s Gill Heart & Vascular Institute.
Dr. Ogunbayo is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is an active member of the American College of Cardiology, Association of Black Cardiologists, the American Heart Association, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Ogunbayo has a wide range of experience as an interventional cardiologist, with special focus on high risk percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, thrombolytic therapy for acute pulmonary embolism, and peripheral vascular disease. He is well-known for effective communication and successful, compassionate care of his patients.
